Meet the President, Mr. David J. Richardson:

David Richardson founded Richardson Cooling Packages (RCP) in July of 2002. RCP designs, produces, sells, and supports cooling system parts and assemblies for use in off-highway applications. Products include radiators, charge-air coolers, oil coolers, coolant hoses, charge-air pipes, engine and radiator mounting brackets and equipment enclosures. Some stationary and mobile applications include generators, pumps, wood chippers, aerial platforms and lawn mowers. He has expanded RCP from 3 to over 80 employees as well as from 2,000 to 107,000 square feet. David has two patents pending for the design and manufacture of durable Aluminum radiators.

Upon graduation from high school in 1989, David Richardson enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served in the 42nd Bombardment Wing, Loring Air Force Base, Maine and in the 1500th Provisional Strategic Wing during Operation Desert Storm. In September of 1992, he was awarded Outstanding Maintenance Performer by the Inspector General of the Air Force. David was also presented with the Air Force Achievement Medal in August of 1992 for outstanding achievement during his deployment with the 1500th Provisional Strategic Wing and was again recognized in August of 1993 with the Air Force Achievement Medal First Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious service during his service. In September of 1993, David Richardson received an honorable discharge from the Air Force.

In 1993, David Richardson obtained employment with Leeds and Northrup (a leading manufacturer of metallurgical sensors for the steel industry) where he worked as an Engineering Technician collaborating with the Research and Development group. During the next few years, David worked on reducing the cost and improving the performance of Leeds and Northrup’s metallurgical sensor product line. These efforts led to his invention of a refractory resin-silica sheath for molten metal sensors, United States Patent 5,709,474. In 1995, David was promoted to Product Manager of ultrasonic detection of inclusions, the largest research and development project within Leeds and Northrup. This project led to David evaluating the cleanliness of molten steel using ultrasonic principles and techniques. This evaluation resulted in David becoming one of ten people in the world to successfully send and receive ultrasonic signals in molten steel.

In 1997, David joined Universal Auto Radiator as Manager of Product Development. David improved the efficiency of the department by implementing computer aided design (CAD) and data management software and integrating this software with the material requirements planning (MRP) software. He led the development of the CuproBraze process, a joint development project with the International Copper Association and Outokumpu. To enable Universal Auto Radiator to provide improved products, David visited over 40 countries and evaluated over 150 manufacturing facilities. In June of 1999, David was promoted to Vice President of Engineering and Operations.

David Richardson graduated from the Community College of the Air Force with an Associate’s of Applied Science degree. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Point Park University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology and has sat on their Industrial Advisory Council for Mechanical Engineering Technology.
